LOTV Blog Hop …

      5newgirlsnov2013

Morning all, thanks for stopping by!
Lili of the Valley are launching 5 cute new girlie stamps over the weekend so we’re having a fun DT blog hop to celebrate!
The stamps will be available to buy on the website on Monday 4th November and also at the open day in Leeds on Saturday if you are able to come along
*

We thought we’d have a change for this hop, you all enjoy seeing how an image can be used in different ways so this time we are showing cards all made using the same stamp
We’ve chosen Getting Ready  ...and she is just adorable!
*
Just ‘hop’ from one blog to another following the links and leave a comment on each card, hopefully we can give you lots of ideas and inspiration
As always we have some hidden prizes along the way, we don’t know where they are so do be sure to visit and comment on every blog
We will let you know tomorrow evening which was the ‘lucky’ blogs and the winners will be drawn at random from all the comments that were left on those blogs

We have 3 sets of the new stamps to give away, three lucky winners will each get all 5 new designs

Here's a list of all the blogs taking part, and remember that you will need to visit them all and leave a comment on each one to have the best chance of winning;

Anne – you’re here

Here’s my card for the hop...

November Lili - Add Sparkle

I used papers from Simple Joys, I love the white pages from this collection – they remind me of a Laura Ashley wallpaper I had many years ago in my bedroom! They can be used for Christmas or general so it’s a very versatile pad

I paper pieced the table cloth, I find colouring with deep reds very difficult and they always seem to bleed. The plain red in the pad has a clever embossed effect so it looks a bit like fabric. I stamped the little presents again and cut them out, I stuck these on with foam pads so they are dimensional
You can’t see very clearly on the picture but I put some glossy accents on the mirror to make it look like glass

Here’s everything else I used;

Square doily from Krafty Hands
Cheery Lynn heart dies
Vintage Sentiments – Just to say

and from The Ribbon Girl
Stickles
Heart pin wheel
Mini glossy accents
Spot organza ribbon
Rose organza ribbon
Flatback pearls

Hope you like my version today!
Don’t forget to leave a comment to be in with a chance of winning   …and from here you should be heading onto the fabulous Dena's blog

One final thing, don’t forget to stop by the Ideas to Inspire blog tomorrow evening when you can find out who the lucky winners were of the prizes

Enjoy the hop…    and good luck!

James Bear …

Good morning crafters, I had a busy day planned today but got out of bed at 11am!

I never lie in but have had trouble sleeping lately, I’ve been waking up because my knee was hurting in the night. It’s feeling a bit better now and I had a great night’s sleep, I obviously needed to catch up from the past couple of weeks! But, I don’t like to waste half a day on a Saturday, the weekends pass so quickly as it is!

This card is on the Ideas To Inspire blog today, we have got a Lili of the Valley column in 3 consecutive issues of Quick Cards magazine and I got to make a card for each feature

*

This is my card for the first column, it’s edition 119 which is on sale at the moment and I’ve used a fab James the Bear image from one of our Art Pads

It had to of course be a ‘quick card’ for the magazine and these pre-coloured images are so perfect, this one is from Furry Christmas

Furry Christmas - Anne

I used our Candles and Cake papers, the reds and greens in this collection are fab, perfect for Christmas cards I think

Here’s everything else I used;

 Christmas Handwritten Phrases

Embossed white card

Spellbinders standard circles and lacey circles

Cheery Lynn small snowflakes

Flatback gems

EK Success corner punch

Adirondack white paint dabber

You can’t really see on the picture but the sentiment is not stuck flat. I like to bring the ends in a bit so that the middle is raised like a banner, it’s a nice effect and adds a bit of dimension to your card

*

That’s about it from me I’d better get started on some of those jobs I had planned, need to be finished for when it’s X Factor time!

Have a great day everyone

Oh Christmas Tree …

Evening everyone, hope you’re all well?

I’m just watching last nights ‘Great British Bake Off’ final, I’ve watched this every year since it started and I enjoy it.I love baking but don’t very often because I’m the one who ends up eating it all lol

I don’t seem to cook much at all now, Jess isn’t here and Joe is rarely in. It seems so much easier to pop into M&S and get a ready meal and to be honest not much more expensive by the time you’ve bought all the ingredients. I like cooking and made a meal every night when the kids were little and we all used to sit down at the table together for tea. We always did when I was growing up and I suppose it rubbed off on me, it’s nice to chat about the day and have some family time

*

Don’t forget that there’s another Lili of the Valley show on Create and Craft tomorrow at noon, Dawny is doing the show with Leoni so it should be good – don’t miss it!

*

Onto this weeks Papertake Weekly challenge and for this one our theme is…

Oh Christmas Tree

…so please either make a tree or include one in your card or project

I made this tree out of Frosty Christmas papers, I saw a tutorial in a magazine and fancied having a go. I was pleased with it, I think it would look lovely in the Classic Christmas papers, red and green, and maybe do 3 different sizes

PTW 30 - Oh Christmas Tree

 tree star

tree bottom

You start by making a cone from card and straighten alomg the bottom so it stands up

Cut strips of paper and curl them

Starting at the bottom using double sided tape round the tree in layers, stick them all the way up. You have to shape them a bit as you get closer top the top and it gets narrower

I trimmed it with a bit of Tim Holtz idealogy silver tinsel

Cut out 5 stars and fold them in half, then stick each half to the next one until you come to the fifth, join this to the first one. I struggled getting it to stand on top so I ended up sticking a cotton bud up into the star and the other end into the tree with some tacky glue

Hope you like it, there’s some great inspiration from the DT ..and as always a prize for the winner who will be announced next Tuesday!

Colour Challenge, Brown …

Morning everybody, what you up to today?

The weather is miserable and I’m still trying to rest my knee so I’ve taken your advice (thanks for that!) and I’m spending some time crafting today

I’ve caught up with my cards so on everything I make from now I’m going to use something that I’ve bought and not used – I’ve set myself a challenge and I’m not going to buy anything new until I‘ve made a dent in the huge stash that I already have here!

On today’s card I used a K & Co paper pad that I’ve had for a while and it’s just been sat there in the pile getting ignored. I think papers are probably the main thing I have far too many of, I love them but can’t bear to use them as they’re so nice!

Time for our monthly colour challenge at the Ribbon Girl and this month it’s…

I enjoyed making this card, it’s an elegant stepper from Craftwork cards and we now have them in the shop at Lili of the Valley

October - Brown

I don’t usually put up many pictures but it’s so hard to take this from a good angle so I thought I’d just show you them all…

This last one is laid out flat so you can see how I decorated all the panels

I used some gorgeous goodies from The Ribbon Girl and you can find them all on their website here

pure silk ribbon

eastern spice mixed dahlia

brown organza ribbon

darjeeling white blossom flowers

liquid pearls

Halloween Hues …

Evening all, the weekend again and I hope you all have something  nice planned

I’m still having trouble with my knee so I won’t be doing much, hopefully some nice crafty time will be the order of the day if I can drag myself into the attic (am sure I’ll manage it!)

The challenge this week at Papertake Weekly is…

Happy Halloween Hues

You need to use colours associated with Halloween or Autumn ie oranges, blacks, purples, greens, browns, golds  etc or you can also do a Halloween card or gift if you want to

Halloween cards are not really something I make usually but we needed this one for the showroom using our cute Abracadabra stamp so it was good timing for this challenge

PTW 29 - Halloween Colours

It’s a simple card, I printed the words on the computer and used a Memory Box Cosmic Star border die

The bottom half is sprinkled with white Frantage

Hope you like it, have a fabulous weekend everyone

Lovely Lili challenge …

Hey everyone, I’m back, hope you’re all well!

We had a lovely long weekend in London, went to some museums and did some shopping …saw a couple of shows …generally ate and drank far too much  …and certainly spent far too much (we could have had a week abroad for what we spent!)

I twisted my knee which slowed me down a bit for the last day so now I’m trying to rest it, I think it was just all that walking my poor joints are not used to it!

I missed the announcement of the exciting news over at The Ribbon Girl last weekend so here’s my little midweek newsflash!!

I’m thrilled to be on the DT for Mary and Andrea’s Lovely Lili monthly challenge

To kick off the new challenge we want to see your 'Anything Goes' projects that include a LOTV image or sentiment stamp or a pre-coloured Artpad image

There are some fab prizes up for grabs and the challenge will close at 9pm UK time on Saturday so still plenty of time to enter

I used one of the new art pads for my card…

October - Brown 2

This little cutie is in pad 7 Just For Girls and the brown colours went perfectly with the gorgeous ribbons and lace which are of course from The Ribbon Girl

Here’s a list of everything I used;

K&Co papers

Handwritten Phrases

Petaloo flowers and leaves

Marianne dies – stitched circle and border

Liquid Pearls, Stickles, Flatback Pearls (chocolate and peaches & cream) Organza ribbon, Silk ribbon and Chocolate beaded tulle lace – all from The Ribbon Girl

Two by Two …

Hey fellow crafters! how are you all this evening?

It was the Harrogate show last weekend and it’s one that I enjoy, it’s local to me and it’s always good to see some friendly faces. Quite a few of our customers attend and also some of my blogging friends who live in the area came along. Thanks for stopping by to say hello, I’m so sorry that I was too busy to have a chat with some of you

When I got I home I was sorting through my stash, I have things that I’ve bought at previous shows over the last couple of years (that I just had to have at the time  …you know!) and they’re still sat in the drawer unopened. I’m making myself a promise to use something on every card I make that I’ve not used before  …so watch this space, it could take some time!

I said I’d do a little candy draw so I got Joe to pick a name from the comments that were left on last weeks card

He chose …

Annette

Thanks to everybody who comments on my posts, I know some of you visit regularly and I appreciate it, it’s great to know I’m not talking to myself!

Let me have your address Netty  anne40@gmail.com and I’ll send you out a little prize

**

So onto the new challenge at Papertake Weekly and our theme is…

Two By Two

…quite simply we just want you to use 2 of something on your card this week
This could be two papers, or two different types of embellies ie a ribbon and some flowers. There could be 2 people/characters in your image, or you may want to use 2 different stamps. So lots of ideas there but as always, how you interpret this is up to you :)

There is some fab inspiration from the DT and this week’s smashing prize is from from Whiff of Joy

For my 2 items I used 2 different colours of liquid pearls on the flowers  …

Evening all, thanks for stopping by and I hope you’re all well

Can you believe it’s October already? the time is just whizzing by so quickly  …I think as you get older each year goes quicker than the last. We just seem to start a new week and then it’s Friday again before I know it!

It’s the Harrogate show this weekend and I’ll be there on Saturday so if you’re going along then do stop by the Lili of the Valley stand and say hello. It’s a nice show and I’ll be taking some pennies with me as I have a shopping list (as always)

The challenge at Papertake Weekly this week is…

~Anything Goes~

…as always there is an optional extra and this time it’s to make a Halloween treat holder

You don’t have to use the option and I didn’t this time, but, there are some fabulous projects from the DT if you need a bit of inspiration

I had some display cards to make for the showroom so I’ve done a Christmas card this week…

PTW 27 - Anything goes
